A notification strategy should begin with restraint, not frequency.
01
Push notifications are powerful because they interrupt. That is also why they are easy to misuse. Every unnecessary notification trains the user to mute the product, uninstall it, or stop trusting the next message.
02
The useful test is simple: does this notification help the user do something they already care about? Transactional alerts usually pass that test. Vague engagement nudges usually do not.
03
A better notification system separates urgency levels. Payment failure, appointment reminder, inventory change, and promotional update should not live behind the same preference toggle or delivery rule.
04
Good notifications feel like service, not noise. They arrive at the right moment, contain enough context, and give the user a clear next action.
